2NBC FM was
first started as Sydney's first full time suburban
community radio station. The station started on the 6th
May 1983 and is on air 24 hours a day. The station is operated by over 100 volunteers and features three on air studios, a dubbing studio and a comprehensive music library. We Need You! If you would like to volunteer we would love to have you join us. There is more to a radio station than what you hear on air, apart from presenters we need technical people, promotions people, computer nerds and various support staff who can arrange on air interviews, file away CD's, clean the kitchen, vacuum the studios and offices, answer the phone, help look for sponsors, the list goes on and on. Independent surveys show radio 90.1 NBC FM has achieved the original goal of becoming a well equipped topical radio station serving the local community. On air promotions and outside event promotions are part of our successful community mix. Not only does 90.1 NBC FM broadcast programs for the English listeners but caters to the needs of the ethnic communities resident in the area. These include Arabic, Ethiopian, French , Macedonian, Samoan, Spanish and Vietnamese Although only allowed to broadcast for 5 minutes every hour, sponsorship forms a major part of the radio 90.1 NBC FM's income. Donations and supporters league subscriptions also greatly assist to run the station.
